MIDGET LL WAINFLEET TOURNAMENT CHAMPS

Congratulations to the St. George Generals Midget LL TEAM in winning the recent Wainfleet tournament. The Generals went undefeated and played a hard fought final game to capture the crown. Special mention goes to goaltender and team tournament MVP -Scott Sheppard - who backstopped the generals and played outstanding throughout the tournament. Way to go Generals !

President's Update

I trust everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Holiday Season! We are now heading into our OMHA Playdowns for our Rep Teams and the playoff season for our Local League Teams is not far off. Good luck to all of our teams!! Go Generals Go!

St. George Minor Hockey Ticket Draw

Our major fundraiser, the Ticket Draw, is underway. Please sell those tickets to help our organization manage costs effectively (i.e. NOT raising registration fees). Jocelyn Rosebrugh has worked very hard to get another awesome set of prizes for this and we thank her very much for her efforts!

Our winning tickets will be drawn upstairs at the Arena on Saturday, February 11th as part of our Hockey Dan in St. George celebration. This coincides with CBC's Hockey Day in Canada (where our Canadian NHL teams play each other throughout the day, which is televised on CBC). Our executive will be making food throughout the day and there will be lots of activities for the kids plus St. George Generals games going on, so please come out, have fun, and support Minor Hockey.

Looking ahead...need for Volunteers

As most of your are aware, St. George Minor Hockey runs thanks to the efforts of a bunch of dedicated coaches and Executve members. At our AGM in April, we will have a significant number of openings that need to be filled. Without a full executive, St. George Minor Hockey can not continue to be an effective organization for your children. If you want your children to continue playing hockey in St. George, then people will have to step up and help out. Please contact me if you want to get involved and keep Minor Hockey strong in our community!

Amalgamation

Although nothing has been officially stated yet, the reality is that St. George Minor Hockey will be asked to amalgamate with neighbouring centres in the near future. Our registration numbers are down, and this is the same in many neighbouring communites. At this point, we have not been given any direction from the OMHA on this, but rest assured, it is going to happen. We will keep you updated once we know more.


Again, I would like to thank all of the volunteers in our organization for all of their hard work. You are all helping to create great memories for our children that will last a lifetime! Thanks for all you do!
